Frequently Asked Questions
-
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin to understand what’s brought you here.
We’ll start with a brief overview of confidentiality and how I work, so you feel clear and comfortable.
From there, I’ll ask some gentle questions about what’s been going on for you, your current season of life, and what kind of support you’re hoping for. This might include areas like your wellbeing, relationships, motherhood experience, or any challenges you’ve been navigating.
There’s no expectation to share everything — we’ll go at your pace, and you’re always in control of what you choose to talk about.
By the end of the session, we’ll usually have a shared sense of what feels most important for you right now, and we can begin to shape how we work together moving forward.
Most importantly, this is a space where you can speak openly and be met with care, without judgement.

People come to counselling for many different reasons — not only when things feel severe or at crisis point.
You might be navigating a life transition, feeling overwhelmed, experiencing anxiety or low mood, or simply noticing that something in your life doesn’t feel quite right. For many women and mothers, this can look like carrying a constant mental load, feeling disconnected from themselves, or questioning who they are becoming.
Counselling offers a space to pause, reflect, and make sense of your experience with someone alongside you.
While some women require clinical intervention including assessments or diagnosis with a psychologist or psychiatrist, many may benefit from supportive, non-clinical counselling focused on wellbeing, clarity, and growth.

Working together is collaborative, gentle, and grounded in safety.
I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Each woman’s experience is different, and our work reflects that. Some sessions might feel like a space to talk and be heard. Others may be more reflective, where we gently explore patterns, emotions, or what’s sitting underneath the surface.
I bring a calm, non-judgemental presence, and I’ll meet you where you are. You don’t need to have everything figured out — part of the work is making space for clarity to emerge over time.
Our work may draw on a range of approaches, including conversation, reflection, nervous system awareness, and practical strategies — always shaped around what feels most supportive for you.
